Extentrix Gadget for
Microsoft Remote Desktop is a Remote desktop client
gadget that runs on Windows Vista. It runs on top of
Vista Sidebar Engine and provides an easy to use
interface to create, edit and delete your
connections.
As you use your computer to access information,
perform tasks, and interact with software, you may
at times feel like you're facing information
overload. You have to open a web browser just to
check the weather, open an application to view your
calendar, and open a calculator program just to add
up a few numbers. Now, with Windows Sidebar and its
associated mini-applications called gadgets, the
specific information you need is at your fingertips.
Each gadget is developed using HTML and script.
Gadgets also have access to extra information about
itself and Windows when the HTML is run as a gadget.
This allows a gadget to interact with Windows files
and folders, such as showing images from the users’
pictures folder or displaying information about a
wireless connection. Displaying settings dialogs and
storing those settings is also possible by using
script.
Windows Sidebar is a pane on the side of the
Microsoft Windows Vista desktop where you can keep
your gadgets organized and always available. Windows
Sidebar makes great use of the space on widescreen
monitors and also works smoothly on standard
displays.
Extentrix Gadget for Microsoft Remote Desktop takes
the user the ability to manage his/her RDP
connections; all his/her connections will be
displayed in a menu in this nice gadget. The user
can do the following:
Create a new connection: when the user creates a new
connection, an .rdp file will created with the name
that the user chooses, and it will be filled with
the settings options that he/she chooses.
Edit a connection’s settings: when the user chooses
one of his/her connections and changes its settings,
the new settings will be overwritten to the same
file.
Delete a connection: the user can delete a
connection and this rdp file will be deleted.
Run a connection: if the user double clicks on one
of the connections, the remote desktop session will
be created.
