Extentrix Widget 2.0 for Citrix Presentation Server works on Windows Vista, XP or 2000; it runs on top of Yahoo Widget Engine and provides an easy to use interface to connect to your Citrix Presentation Server Farm.
The Yahoo! Widget Engine (formerly known as
Konfabulator) is a JavaScript runtime engine for
Windows and Mac OS X that let you run little files
called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you
want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks,
calculators, give your current local weather and
even allows launching Citrix Published applications.
Extentrix Widget uses two different protocols to access published applications:
-
SOAP protocol to use Extentrix Web Services to connect to your Citrix Presentation Server.
- NFuse protocol to connect to your Citrix PNAgent server -provided by the administrator-
and query the entire published application
list.
After
having the applications rendered on the
widget super view by double-clicking any
application of the viewed list, this will be
followed by a request to the server of the
publishing farm to get the ICA file needed
to launch that application. Having an ICA
client installed on the user's machine will
offer better access otherwise the java
client-that have a location specified by the
administrator - will be used to launch that
application through the browser.
The widget provides the user by the
ability to launch the application either
seamlessly or inside the browser.
